Is it neccesary to add the lsd additive to the rear diff oil on my 2000 Jackaroo as it says in the manual.Holden says yes, maybe because its a good money spinner at $35 for a small bottle, and why is straight lsd oil not good enough without it.Any comments would be appreciated.

To keep your warranty valid, I would do what they say.

But after that, I wouldnt! Theres plenty of good LSD oils out there on the market..

Steve, you'll find that Holden are simply "stacking the deck" a bit more in their favour. I would guess that the additive is a type of conditioner, probably to make the oil more "sticky", to use a technical (not) term.
Once your warranty period has passed you can then spend some real money on decent lubricants, all round. Until then, play the game.
