Hello everyone. I am new to this forum, or to any forum indeed so this will be a new experience for me.
Now to the problem that brings me here... I am looking at options to increase both torque and power on a 2003 4.5L petrol 100-series (It's actually a GCC car). The supercharger seems like the obvious solution, only they seem to be available for 6-cylinder cars up to '97 but not for later models. Does anyone have experience with fitting a supercharger to a later car? Any help will be much appreciated.

I do mean supercharger indeed. Turbos are very common for the 4.2L Diesel, and easy to install with that, but quite rare for the petrol engine. Wouldn't say no to a good Turbo kit though if there's one around...

Last I heard CAPA were redoing their design for the 4.5 for more power, which got me interested. Then I heard the $7k price.
THEN I heard how much it is for fitting.

Maybe the problem with the later ones is that the computer has to be re-written and it is a huge job . I know that was a big problem when guys were supercharging the late model BMWs where as we had no problems when I put a turbo on my old E30 1997 BMW.

I have heard of a bloke on the gold coast who has supercharged the 4.5l petrol.

Ran it at Mt Cotton hill climb and beat all the WRXs, so it has power. Were soe srprised looks at the time he did. I think he ran it in the Qld Challenge (like a small version of the Tasie Targa) last year and did reasonably well.

Can't remember the name or details but hopefully this will prompt some one else to remember. Or else you could try a google search or such like.

Of course there is power and POWER! :-).

Check out AVO web site, they do turbo systems for the 4.5 now. Safari are out of the australian market. Kazuma are the name of the supercharger systems made for the 4.5....LP1 in melbourne used to sell them, also TRD on the net sell them.
It doesnt take much to get the 4.5 to go better :)
