I like the Pluckka thereoy....I liked the flying W2, actually things like this I think are best enjoyed purely as entertainment. It's a bit like Opera, only those in the know really know whats going on the rest of us are just there for the entertainment or because we won tickets....

I thought it was a sign to Bracksy to "duck" after spending $50m on the opening ceremony when it could have been better spent on public health or education...

JMO but all I see is a waste of taxpayers money. If i was premier, I'd have planned a nice quiet 2mins silence for the opening ceremony... Time for people to reflect on the good that $50m was doing.

I cannot really comment on the contents of the Opening Ceremony.

Bored the pants off me, so I switched the idiot box off and read my book.

I can't believe how much money is spent and how much bull bleep is applied to "out do" the previous Games Host. I what it now though cause it's now sporting achievements that is shown and that's what the games are all about.
Not only the Aussie's either, although I'm pretty patriotic, but I love to see the underdog participate too.

Who remembers "Eddy the Eagle" at the Winter Olympics a few years ago, or the lone swimmer (from Sierra Leone I think) who had the pool to himself because all the other competitors had been disqualified. He could hardly swim the two laps of the Olympic sized pool, but he did and received an appropriate level of applause for his achievement, regardless of the time he posted.

They are truly legends of sport, as well as those who receive the medals.
