The driver's
seat belt on my GQ locks in place when driving on roughish dirt roads or on a steep incline. That's fine, means it's doing its job.
BUT ... the bloody thing gets stuck and can't be unravelled.
If it's too tight and choking me my only options are to: 1) stop on a level surface to unravel the seatbelt again or 2) undo the belt. Neither is very practical whilst on the track, or safe for that matter.
Does anybody have any suggestions please?
Would I need to buy new retractor?
Would it be of use or will the new one do the same thing?
Thanks

Barnesy,
My old GQ used to do the same. I tried to fix with a strip down & CRC but in the end I got another from a wreckers. That fixed it. Not sure what was wrong with it in the end, even when threw it away.

Gday Barnesy
My GU does the same thing. I think it's a Nissan thing, but I have always seen this as a good thing. I feel much more secure and safe if I am strapped right into my
seat and I can't move when I am on a crazy angle. But I know what you mean about the chocking bit, my neck and shoulder area always get a good workout from the belt. But I still think after all the redness I would rather have that then hanging loose

Mine too. Just have to stop and give it a gentle tug if it annoys.
In real rough terrain I prefer not to wear the seatbelt.

Give the seatbelts a good wash, things should improve

Barnsey, As per the suggestion - give it a wash, but be thankful that it is working properly and as designed.

My Hilux does the same. I bought a sheep skin sleeve so it wouldn't cut into my neck. Releases when on level ground.
