According to Parks Vic, it's a National Park "French Island National Park is a true paradise. Accessible only by 30 minute passenger ferry ride, French Island is a haven of peace and serenity. The 11,100ha park contains environments ranging from mangrove saltmarsh areas to open woodlands and plays home to an equally diverse range of wildlife. "

Quote from French Island themselves:
"I am so pleased, that it has recently been gazetted a NATIONAL PARK, hopefully overcoming threats of development for ever."

Congratulation on your win.

I live down towards that way about 1/45 hrs to be on the island, I have always
know it as a State Park, My References say State Park, But Checking it Change about 1998 -2000 to a National Park.
I keep learning every day.

Hey Graeme, things change under your nose sometimes, I haven't been down to French Island in ages, will have to head down that way with the kids.

that pic was driving me mad, I knew it had to be either at the Prom or east of the Prom, but was thinking of specific beaches, even had my mum having a few guesses yesterday...

cheers

I believe Kylie Minogue has a place on French Island, and yes it is a National Park, it has a lot of birds, an old prison and not much else.
