Scott, I have just read an article in this months edition of Overlander and one guy said he reduced his fuel consumption in his LandCruiser from 25L/100k to 19L/100k using only Shell Optimax. I too have tried Optimax with my vehicle and the difference is realistic. Even though you pay a little more for Optimax compared to standard unleaded fuel, but its better for your engine.

Scott, I owned a petrol GQ for 11 years (sold it last month), I tried everything to make the fuel economy better, 4.5 kms per litre is all I was getting for 11 years, you either live with it or trade up as I did.

The only way that I will see you getting better feul economy is to sell it and buy a diesel.

I get on average about 11.5lt/100km that just under 9km from a litre of deisel. My range with my standard tank is about 790 km compared to brother-in-laws petrol patrol 390-440km a tank. BUY A DEISEL!!!

Scott Ihave 92 Patrol and have just come back from a 4000km trip through QLD and averaged 13litres per 100km.The secret is to use Shell Optimax, tune the car to specs, keep tyre pressure at 38psi and use a good quality PAPER air filiment,
