Laura,

Now that you have images of your vehicle it is more interesting reading what you have and hoe it is set up.

I am always looking out for good ideas and I have learnt there is always room for another item on the vehicle.

BTW, Are you sure that your vehicle is a 1994 model. Going by what I can see of the front grill it looks like a late 92 or early 93 model.

Laura,

I thought that they changed the front grill in 93. From what I can see the vehicle has the same type grill as the 80 Series that I had.

The 600w inverter can run a drill and that was the main reason that I have it. It will also charge all types of batteries. I even had a woman use a hair dryer on a trip once.

Just the two winches. The hydraulic winch came with the vehicle and the hand winch I have had ever since I have had a 4wd vehicle.

Where do I go. Well just about all over Australia. Latter this year I will be away from home for about 5 months. There is a good chance that I might have to do two Canning Stock Route trips this year.

The Ox winch is that a Mile Marker that is re-badged by TJM?.

How would you rate the hydraulic over an electric unit?

Exploder,

I have no idea if the winch is re badged. I would expect it would be.

The OX winch is a lot slower than a electric winch but it does not have to stop to let the motor cool or the battery recharge. It is very quite and only requires the motor to be idling when in use. It can not be used with out the motor running. This means that no one can play with the winch with out having access to the vehicle.

The winch is rated to 10,000lb but is the size of a 8,000lb electric.

The cost of the OX is higher than the Warn but I think it is a better winch for what I need a winch for.

Cool.

I remember reading that TJM is the supplier of the Mile Marker hydraulic winch in Aus, but it look’s as if they sell it under a different name Ox I assumed, it’s the winch the U.S Army use and not a bad peace of equipment from what I have read.

Runs off the power steering pump or something, so pretty much bugger all that can go wrong with it.

Will probably go for a hydraulic unit on a future 4WD as no need for one currently, it would be nice, but with airbags and current set up to much work for something that just isn’t needed yet.

Wayne ,

I am a mechanical idiot so please forgive me if this is a stupid question .

Would it be possible to run the Ox hydraulic of a seperate hydraulic pump so that it just ran off the batteries ? I looked at the Cut Snake winch for this reason , but the price was just too high to even contemplate it .

I will keep an eye out for you in WA this winter .

Thanks ,

Willie .

Willie,

It would be possible but not practicable. The hydraulic pump is there in the power steering pump.

The pump puts out quite a bit of pressure and if it had to run off batteries it would take a few batteries to run it.

The electric winch is designed to run off batteries so it would be better to run that type of winch off batteries.

Keep an eye out for me this winter, I will be the one in the white Troopie.

Hi Laura B
I often look at peoples rigs.
Its great reading and you get some good ideas.
Your first rig pic looks like the Macquarie river crossing near Hill End. The back way to Ophir. Would that be right?
I will probably look at every rig pic now for a few days.
Cheers

For some reason I cannot get my pic to show. I am trying to search for other postings re this, but no luck yet.
I think that you posted something in the last month or so.

For you Russ anything mate.

get yourself to my home by clicking on "my home" your home page will come up with your personal details and all the goodies the non-members are missing out on...lol

up near the top right click on "my rig" you will see spaces for uploading two pics. The first pic will be the one to appear at the bottom of your posts. It doesn't matter what size the pic is, the system will re-size it. I have uploaded 1meg pics with no drama.

After that go back to "my home" and click on "my profile"
There needs to be something in the signature box for the pic to appear at the bottom of your posts.

any probs email me.

Say hello to Von

I look at the other rigs and get some ideas from there. But once I have bee onto someone rig page I normally don't go back because I have already seen it. It will be great if David can make something that will put a little note next to your rig link once you have updated something so people know you have added something
