Hi All,

Can anyone tell me what the Pro Locker is like as i TJM seem to think i am invisible whenever i go into their stores.

Guess thats why all my kit is ARB!!

But as i am interested in an air locker wont to have the right info before purchasing one.

Air Locker of whatever type would be for a 100 Series 2004 model.

Mark

Service & quality of products are often only skin deep where ever you go. My mate who has just finnished an 10 month 4wd trip through nearly all the well known back country tracks had an almost brand new ARB spring break on his cruiser. ARB in Perth didn't want to know at first, finally agreed not to charge for labour when replacing it. My mate is an oldtime diesel mechanic and had the broken spring tested for hardness and was able to show that it was very brittle near the shackel mounts (it seems the springs came from Brazil ! ). My point is that even though you have indicated that you don't like company A, there are probably just as many people who have problems with company B. I try and shop only at places that I know will provide back-up if a product fails.

Cant say I know much about Pro Lockers, but for my money you cant beat a DeTroit Locker. Have used them for years and the new ones are even better than I could possibly have imagined. I personally know of too many people who have had nothing but trouble with Air Lockers - broken pipes, valves ,solenoids, switches and the list goes on. Have had deTroit in my previous 4Runners and have just purchased another 4Runner with 21256 Km on the clock. Been sitting in a warehouse in Perth for the past 10 years. Motor needed a bit of work done to get it going, brakes were shot to hell, but after three weeks of doing my own repairs, she runs like new. Just had the latest DeTroit Lockers fitted and you wouldnt know they were working full time in the rear axle. No thunks or clunks as you negotiate corners ,and front lockers actually allow you to turn the front wheels giving you differential/exponential steering without losing traction. All the power goes to the front wheel that has the most traction. The rears just keep pushing along NO one will EVER convince me to use an air locker

anyone with Detroit lockers front and rear in a 100 Series live axle (FT 4WD)?

I'm interested to know who carries them in SA as well.

I assume they will have a pretty similar result to Lokka - anyone done a head to head?

We have fitted a few detroits over the years and had nothing but trouble with them snapping axles and they love to break axle studs on toyota's also there's situations when you don't want your diff locked.

I have had the exact opposite expereince locally with dealers and resellers. ARB guys aren't worth a cracker, yet the TJM dealer is great... go figure.

Mark Give Opposite Lock a call as they are the stockists for De Triot Lockers. Hope that helps. DeTroit Lockers are half the price of air lockers and a darn sight more reliable than air lockers

In all my years and I am 65, I have NEVER heard of a Detroit snapping axle shafts or breaking wheel studs on any Toyota 4x4s. What I am aware of is that if you have one wheel airborne and you put the boot into the loud pedal, then THERE is the RISK that something will break - all the force is now going to one wheel that has all the traction. The simple remedy is to go very lightly on the throttle, and if all else fails, get the recovery gear out before you break something. Have seen it all to often where inexperienced people use brute force and end up breaking a diff or an axle. Has nothing to do with the locker - regardless of make.
As I have said before and I say it again - wouldnt touch an air locker even if you gave me one. Once you have driven with the latest Detroits you wont want to touch an air locker. Anyway, I have said all that has to be said about lockers ,and as for me I am off to do some more exploring. Not answering any more queries about lockers.
