Am in the planning stage for our trip to the cape and have some conflicting stories. Can anybody please confirm weather or not we have to cross through salt water if we take a route through Lakefield National Park north from Cooktown.

Feedback greatly appreciated

No

- there is one creek at the Northern end called Saltwater crossing - tidal and brackish downstream of the crossing - I crossed there last July, eucalypts, callistemons etc., at crossing - don't think they're saltwater tolerant.

But that is the attraction! Seen crocs, caught barra, had some good camping there, a spooky night with rampaging cattle, dingos and battlecamp road. Man you are hard to please.

Kind regards
