Greetings all

Just an update on post 31793, had a look at the Patrol engine at the dealers the other day and the tip section from one of the glow plugs was broken (about 10mm).
Nissan Australia are looking at why this should happen , and have assured me that everything will be covered under extended warranty (new or rebuilt engine ???).

After speaking to Nissan customer service, the dealer rang me to offer me the use of a hire car for as long as the Patrol is off the road.

Lets see what happens next!!!

regards

you must have half a decent dealer to get a car. Ours was off the road for 2 months and nothing.

Visited the dealer today to pick up some bits and pieces from the Patrol, the engine has been removed together with the cylinder head, one of the pistons has deep ( about a match head size) indents on the surface from where the glow plug fragment hit .
The bottom end is going to be replaced with the cylinder head to be reconditioned. Turbo looks ok.
Service from Nissan Australia and the dealer have been pretty good so far.
Hopefully back on the road by first week in april.
