Can anyone tell me how to remove the main gear lever on an NP Auto. I am trying to install a radio in the dash. The small 4wd selection jusy screws off but the main lever doesn't want to do the same. Hope you can help.

Hi Dave

Slide tapered plastic cover down (lower part of knob - just pull firmly down, bit of a wriggle) and remove 2 small phillips head screws at 90° to each other. Knob lifts off.

Mal,

Un related - I saw a picture of your rig on one of the forums. It looked like you were running BFG's on your Pajero. Have heard reports that they are very noisey on Pajeros. Can you comment?

Regards,
Greg

Howdy Greg

Yes the Goodrich AT tyres are noisy - only drove about 5k on the original new Yokos to fit the AT's and they were straight away much noisier on the road, but then I bought a 4wd not some shopping trolley to run around town in.
Only done 15,000k, rotating 5 tyres every 5,000k - am happy with wear and handling towing 2,450kg of van, noise doesn't bother me, but am certainly aware of it

Dave,

I get my NP GLS in a couple of weeks and have an Icom 400p to fit. Where and what kind of radio did you put in? All other threads I've seen have either a GME 3400 in the gap below the RV meter or where the CD stacker is in the GLS - neither helps me!

Thanks

Adrian

Hi Adrian,

I've got the GLX so it was easy to fit it in as there is no stacker above the ashtry.
I installed a GME TX4400. I had a look on the Pajero site and saw that some had installed the TX3200 in the pencil hoder near the cup holder and also one in the glove box from memory. It would be worth a look to get some more ideas.

Thanks for that. I did see the pics on the Pajero forum. I'll post a question there for ideas on other possible locations as I already have the radio.
