Hi, Im looking for some advice on swaping an auto for a manual gearbox in a 94 V6 jackaroo, (can it be done?)
Can anyone help with advice on who to ask or maybe another forum that I could look at?
Thank you.....

Dead easy scan the classifieds and pick up a manuel and sell your auto
Sorry to put it like that but doing a conversion would cost 25-50% of the value of the actual vehicle

Totally agreed

My brother did that on his VN commodore...why I don't know. He just wanted a manual. He paid about 10k for the car and a second hand reconditioned manual box cost around the $1500 from memory

If you want a manual car buy one from the beginning

Is it really that easy...??? I enquired about manualising our Falcon wagon and all I got was $$$$$$$$$$$$$... Apparently a new ECU is required for the ford, as the computer manages the box as well... Might be worth asking a dealership if there are any catches.

I think both posts above meant find a manual gearbox car, buy, and sell auto car.

And I totally agree, having converted a small truck engine and gearbox, -a lot of work but the sort of thing I wanted wasn't available otherwise.

Thanks to all your replies, It seems I need to find a manual Jackaroo and scrap the idea of converting.
Thanks again....

Im a bit of a manuel man myself but the cost of swapping vehiles over justify it? If it is a good vehicle just enjoy it and the money you would spend on running around looking at cars, stamp duty etc spend on a trip
