The full history of this can be found here.

The short version is that I bought an Absorbed Power AGM battery, with a 2 year warranty, it has failed at 16 months. I bought the battery at Bias Boating but apparently the original distributor is gone so Bias wouldn't handle the claim. The new distributor also wouldn't handle the claim because they didn't sell the battery in the first place. So I was left with the option of repeatedly banging my head against a wall, or putting a post on Exploroz to see if anyone had any ideas for me.

Well, Derek from ABR jumped in and contacted the new Absorbed Power distributor and convinced them to warrant the battery if he verified that the battery had indeed failed due to a battery fault rather than something that I had done.

So thanks to ABR and Orbis (new Absorbed Power Distributor) even though it did take a little bit of a push from names splattered on the Internet, I now have a replacement battery (6 months old, instead of paying a pro-rata payment) and I can look forward to throwing down a few cold one's this Saturday afternoon when I set up camp on Fraser for the week!

I guess it pays to be a bit of a whinger some times!

Thanks to those that helped me out with testing ideas in the first place as well.

Murph

Murph,

Well done. I know that arguing product warranty cases is a hard thing to do as warranty is expensive from a sellers viewpoint.

To Derek from ABR, well done on your advocacy role. Service is a missing art form. Good to see it revivied.

Cheers,

Sean

Hi murphnet,
It's good to hear you extracted some joy out of this..me if I think i've been wronged will not back off..but I allways give the suplier a chance to fix it first..so many are bluffed and dont do nothing..and its true if you back up your product you will get more $$ in because folk know your upstanding..good on you..Derek..one smart man there.

So can I ask , would anyone recommend buying an Absorbed Power AGM vs other brands such as Lifeline, Fullriver, Remco etc..? The Absorbed Power models seem to be cheaper, certainly in the 200AH range which is what I am looking at. ?
