you dont say what sort of vehicle you will be mounting it too. If it is a full size 4wd eg 80, 100, poootrol. sell it and put the cash towards a 12500p anything less is just decoration

Davoe,
If used correctly a 9,000lb winch will winch a "full size 4WD"
A 9,000lb is the lower end of the winch size for the full size 4WD but there are a lot of vehicles that have and use that size winch.

after using a hi lift to get out once and walking 40k another time when my 10,000 and snatch block failed to pull me out I would tend to disagree - might pull you out of a mild bog

froomey,
That is a good buy. The money that you have saved will go a long way to buying some good recovery gear.
There are some good kits about that have all the basic gear that you will need for safe winching.

Very good price,I think they are worth something like $1300 from ARB.
Good find. I wouldn`t have thought to look at a wrecking yard for a scond hand winch, might be something worth looking into.

Good buy. Get it serviced before you mount it. Give it regular workouts and it will serve you
well.

A smaller winch may require a double pull if it is stuck up to the eyeballs but 9000lb should be able to do you fine...

Its a good price.
I have a PTO on the Safari. However was dissapointed when I found out it was only rated at something like 3500 - 4000lbs.
Havent used it yet, as I want to service it before use...am starting to wonder if its of any value at all?

a mate of mine with his safari pto winch pulled a fully loaded 100 series (with boat on roof and every xtra imaginable) up a near vertical
sand dune twice the speed than any electric winch would have and it was in a straight line pull.
