Hi all. Just some questions of a technical nature.

Recently I replaced our trusty 1980 2wd Datsun 720 feral chaser with a 1985 4x4 Nissan 720 ute. This vehice appears to be fitted with a Nissan Z22 4cyl carby engine.

I am hunting for some engine spares such as starter, alternator, distributor, radiator and fuel pump.

Does anyone know if this engine was used in other Nissan vehicles and if so which ones. Also are these parts compatible with any other Nissan engines. The info would be handy when trying to source bits and pieces from wreckers etc.

If anyone knows where I can lay my hands on these bits or a complete spare motor at a reasonable please let me know.

Regards

No Dave, the engine is stamped on the block with the engine number prefix Z22 and she runs on petrol.

Acording to my service manual for 720 that motor was used in some Long Bed and King Cab models in Aust models MGY720TM and KMY720TMF are the designations. Diffs and transfer cases were common to both models. I'll have to do some searching for the other details but I'll get back to you.

Thanks camper, I'm sure that the motor and running gear is common to other 720's what I'm looking for are other possible nissan vehicle types, sedans/vans etc.
