I have a Nokia 6225 CDMA mobile and wish to connect to my laptop as a modem to download email. I have been trying for weeks to get it sorted but with no success. I had a Kyocera CDMA prior to this phone and was able to set up & use no problem.
I have the CA-42 data connection cable for the phone and have downloaded the latest version of Nokia PC Suite.
I am running XP on my laptop.
I have tried loading the modem driver without PC Suite installed but XP will not allow me to load the driver.
I would love to hear from anyone who has succssfully managed to work this out.

Hi Chris ,

I did this a year ago with my 6225 and my Sony laptop and it works a treat . As I am a computer halfwit it took quite a bit of doing .

I downloaded software from the Nokia website and then I contacted Telsra and I think I downloaded stuff from them too . I remember that Telstra were very helpful and talked me through the whole thing . Ring them up and tell them you are having trouble hooking up

A month or two ago I put my phone through the washing machine and thought I had buggered it all up but it made no difference - the setup , is all in the computer .

Good luck ,

Willie .

Hi ChrisO,

I too do this regularly, the trick is to make sure the port numbers are set "correctly". The PC does not like to share the phone with the Nokia software. If the Nokia software shows the 6225 as being connected, then the PC will not be able to use it as a modem. I set the port number on the Nokia software to something different than what it actually is, that way the Nokia software doesn't recognise the phone being present thus you can now use it to dial out.

Also, remember to set up on the phone to be able to use it for data calls.

I hope this makes sense as its a bit hit and miss to get it working, but once figured out works well, albeit not at fast broadband speeds as advertised (well, not for me anyway).

Cheers

Did you have to load a modem driver for the Nokia ?
From what I read on the Nokia site, they are suggesting that the PC suite software that came with the data cable takes care of this.

Hi Chris,

I loaded the Nokia drivers from the word go, so have never tried without. I assume the nokia driver is used when the phone is connected as a modem, even though its not actually using the nokia software as such.

I have a 2280. I had to go to the Nokia site to install it. It worked but not too well but when I got my phone bill I quickly disconnected it and went to an internet cafe

If you go to the settings in PC Suite and unclick all of your connections ie CABLE BLUETOOTH etc, it should work. Otherwise your PC will assume that the phone is in use. Good luck.
