Hi Dave,
We have a 2.8d (non turbo) 4Runner and tow a camper trailer. Find it underpowered but then again the trailer with the lot weighs towards 1400kg. We had the 4wd & trailer weighed at Mt Isa during a trip and the total was 3780kg.
Probably far too much for a 2.

Cheers
Kev

Dave,

Manual or auto trans.

Manual might struggle getting off the mark.
Auto should be just fine.

Owned one (auto) for several years and often towed 1.8 tons of boat with it. The torque converter masks the low rev. inadequacy of this motor.

All the best,
Bruce H.

Sorry here Dave,

Didn't ask whether V6 or Diesel. Ours was a diesel.
