Hi all
I have a new Mazda Tribute V^ and would like to hear from similar owners as to what van they are using. Seems size is less important than weight but when i search for caravans no too many adds show the weight. The V6 has 1600kg capacity but i think around 1000kg would be ideal for power to weight ratio. Your experiences would be a great assistance.

What is the maximum ball weight ( download ) that the Mazda Tribute can handle ?

The vehicle may be rated to tow 1600kg, but if looking at a single axle van this would typically mean a ball weight of 160Kg and upwards.
Even a 1000kg van with single axle would have in excess of 100kg on the ball.

I would not be surprised if the tribute is limited to 75kg or so !

Regards,
Mark

Thanks mark, supposedly the hitch also has a 1600 kg capacity which should equate to 160 kg ball weight I will confirm with the supplier if it is not stated on it.

My brother has the ford escape, same car, different badge, and he tows a jayco expanda, single axle size with fodl out beds at each end. I think it is about 15 or 16 feet body length. He has no trouble and says it is a lot lighter than the last caravan he had.

Thanks dublediff, that is a great help, jayco make some good vans but for extended touring I was preferably looking for a full van, but options are open.
