midland uhf radios?

anyone had any experience with (midland ) 5 watt uhf hand held units?
set of 2 on e bay

Not as a UHF, but from memory Midland was quite a good brand name when the original 27 Meg was all the go years back. Didn't know that they are still around.

A US product I think you will find. If so not authroised here and probably wrong frequencies as well.

Can you get batteries easily? and cheaply - that would be my main concern with 2nd handys as the batteries dont last forever usually a couple of years give or take

G'Day Tony,
The only Midland handheld's I could find on E/bay were 27meg units. I actually have two of them myself, in pristine condition with covers, and was also thinking about putting them on E/bay. I also have a pair of Sharp units, which were the same quality competition units of the day. They are both very good quality unit for their type and age. Today they would be a highly prized item by radio collectors. They did come with their make battery but can be run on AA or AAA battery packs in either standard or re-chargables.
