For those that are interested... GQ 4.2td. c/t weighs 1000kg. truck,2.99 tonne[fully loaded] ball weight, 100kg. Average fuel use for the trip from Brissy /Birdsville/Alice Springs/
Perth[central rd.] 18l/100ks. ,dearest fuel was $1.75 at
Jervois station.. total cost of travel , including smokes, was $195 a day, unfortunatly swmbo enjoys the comfort of c/p most nights, & a latte, when available! so that does'nt help the budget. But it has been a good trip so far.
Hope these figures are a help on your budget.. cya all ...Phil

Well, I'm tickled pink with my
Easter trip fuel econmy. 2006 GU Cab Chassis, 4.2tdi and steel tray, full tanks and two adults - 12.3l/100ks
Adelaide to
Geelong on the Dukes Hwy, ave speed 100kph. The truck has only done 2,000 kms thus far so when it loosens up in a year or two the figures should improve. Mind you, when I put the camper on the back the economy will probably go to ruin! Ciao.

Hi Phil,
Sounds like a great trip and you must have had lots of fun.
Our 100 Series Landcruiser is a so called, "Gas Guzzling" V8 5 speed auto and when we have the '05
Kimberley Kamper in tow with a full load on vehicle, Kamper and roof rack, we average 19.5 L/100 K...so I guess that's not too bad when compared with the economical diesels...around 10% more fuel usage and usually 10% less at the pump price.
Well, there's more to life than worry about the cost of it...but thanks for your post as we're about to head off for 2 months in Central OZ and your stats have already been a big help in confirming our calculations.
Hope you have safe travels
Cheers
Rick & Julie
