Off Road or On Track

A new discussion that came up recently related to the way we talk about off road. We use this as usual language to describe any dirt road away from the blacktop. The words of course create a totally different view to those who have never been there. Of road means off the road. Our public relations is becoming an important issue and how we are perceived is vital. Are we all pushy on the roads ? Are we all bullies driving up the back of the vehicle in front, and do we all have no respect and drive off road?

One of the ways that was discussed to deal with these issues was to change the term off road to “on track”. What do you think about that? Apart from the on track 4 x 4 club how many of us appreciate the code of practice which states that we always drive on track. There are obvious exceptions like the beach, the sand dunes and open wild country were there are no tracks, now that is off road. So how about we discuss how we drive and how we discuss this issue. One way to make a difference would be to see the major 4 x 4 mago’s adopting a change such as this and perhaps a car sticker suggesting good driving behavior.

When we bought Jero I emailed a few pictures to a friend in the US, She replied with..." that is a nice looking SUV"..

I was insulted!

Most of us do the right thing, you can have as many good driving stickers as you like on the back of your SUV it only takes one d...khead to get people off side.

I belive that most of us, the people in clubs people who come to the forum and so on are doing the right thing, the one that are causing the problems are the 4wd shopping trolley's and the status bought vehicles not saying that everyone that has a 4b apart from us is bad of course, what I am saying is that the people who would be willing to do all of the responsible driving etc already do...
