I have a problem with one of my other vehicles, a Toyota Dyna with an “H” motor in it. I thought it had a blown head gasket, but it appears to be a lot worse. Therefore I am thinking of a replacement, a good 2nd hand or a reco. A mate who is a truck mechanic thinks that a “2H” may fit (but not sure) and may be easier to obtain. My question is : does anyone know if these two motor are physically the same and directly interchangeable ? Does anyone know a source of these motors in Melb. Any advice or information is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. Neil

Hi Nieil. I have had a fair bit to do with both these motors in early Landcruiser and they are quite dissimilar, the bell housing set up is completely different , The only way to do a swap would be with the matching gearbox, you would then be in trouble with engine mounting points and chassis crossmember positions as these are different also.

Thanks for the info.
Looks like I will have to source an H motor.

The 2H is not really a good way to go, as they are prone to cracking heads too.
