I was planning on travelling the Tablelands track its entire length via Teronis
gorge this Jul but have just read from Ron & Viv Moons publications update website that "The (Tablelands) track past Tablelands HS and through Bedford Downs station in the central
Kimberley has been closed and a
locked gate has been erected. It seems early travellers winched their way through Teronis
Gorge and destroyed this private station track thereby making it all but impassable, except with the use of a winch and that hasn’t pleased the local landowners! Access from the
Gibb River Road end to the delights of Old Mornington Station and the nearby gorges are still possible."
Exploroz road
feedback for this track by
John McMillan in Aug 05 says: "Trav this tk July 05 from Gibb Rv Rd to Halls Ck via Teronis
Gorge without incident. Rough thru
gorge else ok. Map says no access-not so. Told leaseholders cant deny people passing thru."
So whilst it definitely seems closed ... does anyone know who to contact to arrange special access (Tablelands HS? Bedford Downs station?) & what their contact details are

Hi Drew,
Both are on the phone, coz I called them a couple of years ago about the same issue. Just ring your friendly 1223 for the numbers, and eventually you'll get thru to a human being after some perserverance. Not sure if anyone will be
home at Tablelands, tho, as it's an Aboriginal Community, and sometimes seasonal.
Pity it is closed now, coz it's a fabulous run, esp Teronis
Gorge and the Durack Range, and the sort of country you'd like to revisit.
But do give them a try, things might have changed in that time, and you never know your luck.
Cheers,
Gerry
