Don't know if this is old news or not but the new Nissan Patrol Motor is a 4.2 Common Rail and will be released this year (not sure if that is in OZ) But definitley in an all new Patrol next year.

Where did this info come from. Not being sceptical, but I have heard numerous rumours of different motors in the new Patrol (this being one of them) but I would like some info when there is hard evidence of this.
Also heard it was going to be a 4.5lt (same as 3.0lt but with 2 extra pots), considering all the hoohaa about the three litres I hope this aint the case.

Regards Trevor.

Here's another one, last I heard Nissan was dumping the 3.0TD & 4.2 in Aus and releasing an all new 3.5TD across the range.

How about this, 6 Cyl 3.75 CRD, the 2.5 with a couple of extra pots. That would make say 180Kilowatts and sy conservatively 600Newton Metres of torque.

Hopefully they would put a gearbox in it that would handle all that power.

I'm lead to believe that the 4.5 CRD is available in Asia and will be in the new Patrol for next year.

There is no way it's gonna be a 4.5 CRD. Given that the power and torque coming from little 2.5 CRD is so good, a 3.5 CRD would be awsome, but I recon the most critical factor is the transmission.

Regardless of the engine failures of the Nissan 3.0, I recon the biggest downer with the current model 3.0 Patrol and the older 3.0 Prado is the stupid 4 speed auto.

Why the 3.0 Patrol couldn't have the 5 speed auto like the 4.8 Ti is beyond me.

Our new work van is a 5cyl 2.5L CRD Volkwagen with a 6 speed auto and I gotta tell ya, it's bloody awesome !!!!!!

apparently the 3L is staying in the wagons and the new 3.5 is going in the utes. TD42T will cease this year.

a dealer a while back said that the 4.2 would go and 3.0l would be right across the range but your 'hear say' sounds a little more plausible.

OK Grizzle,

You said "Don't know if this is old news or not but the new Nissan Patrol Motor is a 4.2 Common Rail and will be released this year (not sure if that is in OZ) But definitley in an all new Patrol next year."

First of all, you DIDN'T say "I've heard/someone told me/a mate said/etc".

So what's your source of this info please? Can it be substantiated? Can I and all the other TD42/TD42T/TD42Ti punters hold off in modding/accessorizing our trucks (any more than we already have!!) in the hope that your comments are accurate and we can all upgrade?? ;-) ;-)

They are working on a shoestring budget, so expect some highly computerized that only 2 people in Nasa can tune, 400cc engine pumping out a bleep poor 80kw and 10nm in typical Nissan fashion.
