Just had my new TD Hilux in for it's 20,000km service, the car has been great. The total cost of the service, carried out to Toyota's specification was $282.00. Is that the going rate, I would have thought pretty good.? 2nd question is I have driven the car around 90 kilometers since the service and the oil is already quite black, is that normal..? I can see the filter has been changed but I didn't check the oil until today. When I first bought the rig the oil stayed a clear clean colour for the first 500km's or even more.

I do my own stuff on the 80 unless its major. Filter around $27, fuel filter and air filter to add . Then there's the oil and labour. Your change doesn't sound too expensive.
Diesel oil naturally gets black in under 10 mts because of all the sooty stuff (note technical description).
