I just saw the new Prado due in March on the Toyota website. I think it looks damn ugly compared to the current shape. No mention of engine specs yet though. What do you think??

I think it looks like a cross between a santa fe and a challenger. Though the interior is ok.

I've heard that there is an all new 4.0L V6 with more power than the 4.8L Nissan. Which also means more power than the 4.7L Toyota V8, however I don't know about torque or where max power is developed in the rev range. I believe the diesel remains the same

At least it's still a chassis based vehicle with a live rear end. So it should be at least just as capable offroad as the current Prado and more capable than Paj. Gotta be happy with that, as the choices with a decent offorad suspension setup are declining in that part of the market, with Paj going monocoque/independent all round and Jackaroo soon to disappear.

Looks like you'll need to take out a loan to replace a broken headlight.

Saw one yesterday in the flesh. Looks better than the photo's but it is one of those things you will get used to. the more you see. Interior is definately bigger and feels like you are in a cruiser but when you sit in it and look over the bomnnet it does'nt feel any bigger than the previous model. Looks like they are putting on 17" rubber which might be a tad expensive to replace and limited in choice of replacement although it was a top of the range model I saw. Roof also is now gutterless.

V8 Landcruiser owners would have to be REALLY bleep off....

Maybe the next Landcruiser gets the VVT or at least this very yummy V6 with some bigger pistons. It's gonna need to if the propsed US Nissan 5.4 is coming here........

Fit a Bullbar and headlight covers and then for gods sake don't crash into anything tougher than a pedestrian!

Seriously if you plan to use it in dirt or worse only occasionally it's 4wd capabilitys are poor with the crashabilty - and the only way to improve that is to buy the bullbar and put others at risk. If you're going offroad - buy the new Pajero with ATC and LSD.

No one likes the thought of injuring or killing someone with a bullbar.
As much as I'd say we shouldn't use bullbars around town due to the risk to pedestrians - the Prado is the PERFECT example of why we do....
