Finke Fuel Supplies 06 ???

Hi All. we are going to Finke for the race ( june long weekend) we are coming up from the south and want to go to Chambers Piller on the way
home and I see on the latest maps that fuel is " In emergencies only"at Finke ?.
we were there in 02 and they ran out of fuel before the weekend was over.
Does anyone know if it will be available race weekend or not.
Also does New Crown Station have fuel available fulltime and what are their trading hours.
Any info greatly appreciated Cheers Des.

Never rely on Finke for fuel the weekend of the race!
Ill track down New Crowns phone number for you in a minute and post a reply.

New Crown Station is not a 'service station'...its a private property that will sell fuel to passers by ...cash only and they are salt of the earth people...don't abuse their hospitality by expecting them to turn their place into a Servo !!!

Yes Steve they are not a public servo and fuel is for emergency only, hence the sugestion of a phone call. Asking for advice from the Smith's prior to leaving will be more appreciated than rolling on their door stop with no fuel on the day.
I hardly think a polite phone call is abuse of hospitality or a demand for a mobil sign in neon lights!

Thanks fellows for your prompt answer,We make a habit of ringing ahead for things like that just as a cortusy, We only have 2 4x4's so we will see how we go,
I got a reply from the race people ( Alice) and they seem to think Finke will be OK for the race weekend.
Do you know if Maryvale still has fuel?

Yes Maryvale has fuel but the the hard bit will be getting someone to open up for you, but if your pessistant and you need it you will be able to get some. Are you coming up through
Kulgera or the Dirt?

Oodnadatta , Eringa, New Crown, To Finke then we follow the Sweep vehicle, usually we go through to Alice but we want to stop at
Chambers Pillar and then out the stock route to the bitumen.
I will ring New crown nearer to the day and see what they say,
