I need help and I am sure that somewhere out there someone has done this job.

Pajero NL 2000 Escape Manual. Reversing lights on permanently - suspect the switch. Look up Gregory's manual and it shows the switch on the R side of the transmission at the top - where I would expect to find it. Looking at the vehicle itself - well that is another matter. You can't see a thing from below. So I started somewhere near the rear bumper and dismantled my way forward (not quite, but it was nearly that bad).

I have gotten as far as removing the console and find, as suspected, that the gear levers go directly into the transfer case and I need to be at least 200 mm forward, but there is no access hole provided.

Does anyone know if you can access the switch from above, or does the gearbox system have to be removed to get at the switch? Any suggestions (other than buy a LC or Patrol) would be welcomed.

This may help. (Paste the URL onto a single line)

The switch is referred to as the Back Light Switch

Thanks Adrian for your link. I haven't worked through it fully yet, and indeed my g'box may not be the right one, but it is worth a look.

If you go to this link:

www.pajero4x4.ru/pajeroii/

you'll see all of the other manuals. All in English. One may help.

I have an NP so can't help specifically.
