Daniel, I don't understand why you'd want a snorkel on a petrol engine, unless it's for looks. A petrol engine has spark plugs and a distributor that do not like getting wet, so fitting something that will allow you to drive through water up to the windscreen will only last till the spark plug leads etc get wet. Snorkels are not only for deep wading, properly fitted ones also reduce the dust intake on dirt roads.

Apart from that they do have a "poser" value, like a bank of lights on the top of the cab, four and five poster bull bars and "I've been everywhere" stickers all over the place.

Yes,,, i fitted one to my petrol patrol....
Even if you have a petrol motor,,, the water can still flood up your air intake...
We have been through water crossings over a metre in petrol vehicles,,,,...
The highest point of water is always going to be at the very front of the vehicle where the intake is.....
If prepared properly,, it takes quite a while for the water to affect a petrol engine...
