we are away in 9 days slow trip north .plan to leave cairns 03 06 06 any help with rd conditions or email contacts would help also any members leaving about the same time as we have had one truck pull out safe driveing mal

Had this email arrive just a few days ago.

The roads in the Cape will take some time to repair after our very very wet
'wet season'. Most roads are currently closed to all by 'local traffic',
Attached are some photographs to give you some understanding that it is more
than just waiting for the water to go down.

Don't panic the road repairs have started the archer is nearly cross-able but the national parks are closed.
The above pictures are about 2 odd weeks old.

Sh*t eh. I have heard through other posts that the government will be fixing the main roads as a priority - what about the other smaller, not so heavliy travelled areas?

I am leaving with a group on the 1st of July, does anyone think we could face any major issues?

I havent felt this much excitement since i knew i was getting a malvern star BMX for xmas :o)....... i think that was 1983......
