I am heading up on Thursday morning for the annual Fraser Island Fishing Comp, which starts on Saturday. You need to head up those couple of days earlier to get a camp spot. If you are looking for a quiet spot to camp I'd suggest you give Waddy Point to Ocean Lake a miss as there will already hundreds of people camping there from this week and its going to get very busy.

I would suggest you head up to Waddy Point one early morning and watch the boys launch their boats into the gutter, it can be quite a sight.

Also make sure you have all your permits in order and your food locked down. They bring in extra Rangers for the comp and some of them also get on the island early.

Cheers

Thanks for your replies everyone.
I have a great place to camp, it is called a friend's house at Happy Valley.
We have work at all the Telstra sites on the Island, so we will be all over the Island. When we heard the dates for the Fishing Comp we planned this trip to get off the island before the crowd arrives. Have fun at the comp.
