Hi All,
We are heading up to
Lawn Hill in approx 6 weeks time and would like to know how far we would be able to get towing a 23 foot Van.I have looked for links with info but have been unable to find any.Where is the nearest place one could safely leave a van.Any information would be much appreciated.

I cant remember anywhere you couldnt get towing a 23foot van.....
Bit corrugated in through
Riversleigh (spelling),,,, but the water crossings are pretty shallow....
You could tow it all the way to Kingfisher
Camp if you wanted to,,,, so long as
Elizabeth creek and the couple of others arnt to high....
All the way to
Lawn Hill you go...

Vox, which is the best way into Kingfisher. We will be at Adels Grove with a 17 ft van. Is it best to go back out to
Gregory and round onto the top road (Gulf Track) or meander north, thru those little roads direct from Adels/
Lawn Hill?

If you go due North from
Lawn Hill just get used to opening and shutting lots of gates but the track was fine in 2005....
Bowthorn Station told me the other week that track will be shut for quite some time....
Machinery wont get in there till Beginning of June at the best...
You may have to go around because of the condtion...

Gorge and Porcupine

Of the three gorges you are travelling to I have only been to Cobbold. It is cetainly a unique place and
well worth a visit. Good camping there as
well.
Will get to
Lawn Hill some day but just not sure of which day it will be.
Have a great trip.
Cheers, Patrick

I am heading that way myself in 5-6 weeks time (30/6 -4/7) and have just this week spoken to the people that run Adel's Grove. They say that the roads are fine and that they have got a constant stream of people coming and going at the moment. There is a caravan park at the
Gregory river as previously mentioned so that is one option. I have been to
Lawn Hill a few times previously and on each occasion seen vans in the park and at Adels grove. The road from
gregory river/hotel is normally good up until the turn into the Century
Mine and after that is does deteriorate a bit but if you take your time and drive according to the conditions then it should be ok. If you intend staying at
the Gorge then i would recommend booking. If you need a powered site at Adels Grove then same again. If towing a van I would not recommend the road through
Riversleigh. Might see you, have a great trip, it is worth the drive up there.
