Hi all,

My wife and I are travelling around OZ at the moment - currently in Hervey Bay after 5 days on Fraser Island. We are slowly heading up and hope to tour up the CAPE around mid to late July.

We are in a 105 series Cruiser with a Kimberley Kamper in tow. Because there is just the two of us in one vehicle I was just interested to see if anyone else was heading up around this time and would be looking for some company or wouldn't mind us just tagging along on the tougher sections (never been before).

We have 4wd experience as we spend all our time travelling throughout the VIC High Country when at home. Our forby is well set up with 12000 Warn Winch and rear Diff-lock (and all the other bells and whistles). But despite all this we would still be keen for company. If know one is heading up around this time we'll just take it easy and keep the Sat Phone charged in case of emergency.

We are dead keen to take the old telegraph track (or as much of it as possible). Also, if it is believed we shouldn't take the trailer to certain points we'll just leave it and take the tent.

Would love to hear from anyone - even if it's just tips and advice.
Cheers
Jake

Jake, Good company is great on a trip but if you don't get any takers, don't worry as you should be fine with your experience. The OT track will be slow but it's sure better than the Development Roads that get fairly hammered at that time of the year.
You are bound to meet up with other travellers along the way and you will keep bumping into the same travellers frequently. Just make sure you enjoy yourselves.
Cheers
Des

Jake, I'd like to endorse Dezzies comments. Take it easy and you shouldn't have many problems. The Tele track was pretty ho hum in terms of difficulty when I was there last , but current conditions are unknown to me. It's a great part of the country with some wonderful people living there. I know of at least 3 parties headed that way but dont have dates, no matter as you'll meet plenty of fellow travellers and have a ball.
