Hi Eric
do you think we will get from
Cooktown to Musgrave via Lakefield soon.
I rang the National Parks and they said its up to the main roads dept and they say ask the national parks. It would not be the same going to the cape without visiting Lakefield, Iron Range and
JArdine National Parks, we rely on forums like this one to fing out whats actually happening.

Hi Patrol
John said Lakefield not Lakelands. These are 2 different areas but are sometimes confused as the same thing.
Hi
John
Yeap I agree......you can't go past and not stop in at Lakefield.

Good news Eric, make a few travellers out this way happier. Funny how they don't seem to have any concept of how inconvenienced people other than themselves (meaning those who live & work there) might be coping.
You back up there yet?

Hi Ruth, I think you are wrong about that. weI understand how inconvenienced the locals are and we also know how much the tourist dollar means to remote communities ans CARAVAN PARKS,that is why we havent cancelled our trip and use this
forum as a way of communicating with the affected people to see if it is possible to visit. It is very easy to cancell holidays and go somewhere else.

Sorry John, I thank you for the fact that you are still planning to travel but from great experience I am able to say that you are in the minority - and I say that, not trying to be smart, nasty, horrible or anything like that, unfortunately, the general travelling public (this year, Gramps) has vocalised how inconvenienced they are by the Cyclone/rain damage and it is why I have a sign (courtesy of the Caravan Parks Association Inc of which I am a member) that the Caravan Parks (ergo anything to do with tourism) is alive and well in the north.

Hi Ruth, I understand what you are saying and I an proud to be in minority, I grew up in a country town and understand what country people are like.
These forums have given me a true picture of what is happening on the Cape and the problems people are living with.
WE started planning for this trip the day we got
home from our last visit 2 years ago, we still plan on going in late June, if we cant well there is always next year if we can afford the fuel.
I think that because you are working in the tourism industry wou meet a lot of people, and manywho feel inconvenienced, just like a doctor whose patients mostly feel sick.
Thanks again and maybe we could visit
Birdsville sometime.
were not all retired mexicans you know.

Hi Ruth ! Maybe Sully forgot that we usually have to soak a canvas water-bag before use..At least the water in his canvas craft would be filtered:-) I'm jealous of his fish catch but..Can just smell the cooking.Mmm! Curl-A Mou! Have fun Brian (RockyOne)
