Steve
should I show decorum and modesty and just tone it down? Or let the bloody world know that I've chosen a decent tyre for my pride & joy?

I'll resist the temptation to translate into Erdu, but I was asked the question by the tyre man, and being a little dizzy with excitement at my purchase, was at a bit of a loss. So, my point is; what do you reckon guys? Show off the brand or keep it toned down?
Better?

If I had chosen BFGs then I would be putting the white lettering on the inside.
However, I have chosen the BEST off road tyre (Goodyear MT/R if you didn't realise), so am proud to display my immaculate choice to the world.

Excellent, Roachie. Are you happy with them, because they are what I have decided to try next? Coopers were rubbish,
Dunlop Grandtrek even worse, and the current Bridgestone Dueler 694 are wearing too fast.
Cheers

Yeh mate; I'm a happy lad ....just bought another 2 as I bought a new box trailer and changed the wheels over to match the Patrol and Camper trailer, so put the 2 of the old, useless Coopers onto the box trailer (off the camper), then moved 2 of the MTRs to the camper and the 2 newies on the front of the Patrol. (phew)...

I've got MT/R's as
well with the lettering on the inside but what's got me stumped is that the letters aint white, they are sort of a light blue colour, dunno what gives there when everyone talks about the letters being white. Anyway I like my tyres all black.

Steve
I have the BFG's and Im up to my 3rd set (over many years) I have placed the white writing on the outside this time it looks ok against the alloys, previously I had it on the inside, didn't like the writing against the chrome rims of my earlier 4by :-)
I have run the BFG's for many years and have had no issues. Unlike others I cant tell you if they are the best off road tire (not that you were asking that) because I have not tried all the others tires available to compare.
Enjoy you new purchase, I get excited by the smell of new rubber also.
B

Writing on the outside please, so passers by can see at a glance which tyres to avoid when they see you beside the road.

I hate the white letters - makes the vehicle look like a rolling advertisement - put them to the inside.

I'm going to bed now and can sleep easy with my decision. Then again, i'll probably lie awake thinking about where to go at weekend.
God, if my kids could hear me now.

Now, let's see.............
When camping in the bush.............
Day one: jocks on as normal...
Day two: turn 'em inside out...
Day three: turn 'em right way again, but puttem on backwards...
Day Four: turn 'em inside out again, and puttem on right way round....
Or something like that...........In any case, with this system I usually end up with 4 matching skid-marks at the end of a 4-day cycle!!! ;-)))

Lets get back to the serious question - inside vs outside...........
If you wear jocks on the outside, you can get a whole trip without skidmarks........

If you wear your Reg Grundy's on the outside, you could just fly the whole way and be able to leap bogged Nissan's in a single bound.
Might have to carry a Coleman shower tent with you as phone boxes get a bit hard to find when your in the bush.

That`s got me thinking I should give toyota a call and ask for a new car as payment for all the advertising I`ve done for them over the years. If not im going to remove the badges on my cars right away.

Steve,
Back in the good old days when there were some very good tracks open in
Sydney area.Where the the tack went between a rock and a hard place we had the raised white letters on the outside to give a bit of grip on the side wall.
Sometimes this was the only way we were able to get through.

Unless you've got something to be ashamed of, it's outside all the way.
The 'inside only' brigade are also likely to wear those clear plastic hat protectors for their akubra's with knee high socks and white shoes.

But I prefer to dress on the inside, and usually down the left leg to the knee.
