Spoke to Mal today whose late 2002 Nissan engine I reported expired at 70000kms.
Was given some good advice here re phone nos., names etc. which I duly passed on. He thanks all for that help which proved very useful
Nissan came to the party to the extent of replacing the engine with a rebuilt one and he had to pay some labour etc. costs.
The day he picked it up he took it straight to the local Holden dealer and now has a brand new Rodao twin cab ute, V6 engine.
Total cost to him, from engine expiring, flat bed lift to Nissan dealer, cost of his repair contribution etc. balance on new ute a fraction over $20grand. Plus 2 months without a vehicle.
As he said to me, "lucky i'me a shearer, a lot of blokes couldn't afford that sort of disaster" He also mentioned something about no fishing holidays for a while too.
Just gotta love those ZD30's.

Wouldn't 20 grand be about typical updating from a 2002 vehicle to a 2006 one???
