Howdy people,

Hoping someone might advise how to remove the centre part of the dash in an 03 Navara. I am wanting to install a UHF in that 'hole' above the wireless but as yet can only locate 2 screws securing that complete centre piece of the dash. Removing just these 2 screws obviously aint enough to remove that section but I'll be buggered if I can locate any other anchorage points. Has anyone any experience with this model?

I put one in my 03 navara and from memory there are only a couple of screws the rest is held in with plastic clips. Swapping the cd player into the top slot( Will screw straight in) will also stop the problem of the mic chord dangling down in front of the cd slot. Hope that helps.

As Marn said there are about 8 clips around the edges. It is fairly tight and if you start at the bottom it should come with a bit of effort.
Oh and take the ashtrays out.

Snow,

Installed one in mine not long ago and by memory you have to undo the screws then I used a small flat head screwdriver to gently lever the clips undone. There are 6 clips, 2 on the bottom near the sides 2 in the middle of the sides and 2 on the top. As said above work from the bottom to the top.

Cheers
Matt.

G day SNOW !
I installed a Uniden, U013 ( split system ) into my 03 Navara just over 12 months ago. Put the main unit on top of the glove box, with valcro, you know the spot under the Air bag, ( that we don't have ) and the chanel selector in the same hole you are talking about. There are no dramas. I recall to remove the ash trays first, and the 2 main screws, at the bottom of the centre consol..
There are 6 or 8 clips located around the console. they are not a problem ,,

Be carefull to get that Gang Wire ( thingy ) out of the back of the Hazzard Switch,, and write down the colour code of wires, and location , immediately . Its a silly little switch that can simply fall apart ,, It happened to me, I had to go to work, before I had finished, hit a pothole on the way, and the whole lot fell apart. Dont you hate that ,,,

Anyway it sits up in that hole and works very fine

Cheers Mate

hi Snow. I've had mine out numerous times and two of my mates as well. The way I do it leaves no marks like some using a small screwdriver or similar around the edge of that plastic panel. Undo those two screws that you can see and take out the ashtrays. Get a strip of steel about the dimensions of a steel ruler but only 2" long and bend it at right angles(does that make sense?). Up near the radio insert this under the inside of the plastic panel and gently pull outwards. Do the same on the other side and this will release that panel from the hidden clips. Pull it out far enough that you can get hold of it and pull it toward you. Takes 45 seconds, tops. Rus.
