Essentially, the Cape is open for business from Cairns to Weipa to Bamaga for vehicles <5tonne .
Please keep in mind that some sections of road at the moment still require caution.
Destinations such as Iron Range/Chilli Beach and most National Parks may be another 2-3 weeks before safely trafficable.

Permits for heavier vehicles are still required for certain roads with load limits currently imposed.

All the best
Eric

Thanks, Trevor.

Gday trevor , i went over the bypass road as most likely the otl will have lots of water through it i live in weipa and left to drive up to the tip in 19th and came back on the 22 , there was lots of water on low lieing area's i went through the otl in december and it was dry as and still had some water crossings can only imagain what it looks like now , when i came back bramwell was fuel limited to fifty liters per car dont know if they have restocked since , rocky creak was deep had water flowing over my wind screen wiper blades no worries though tarp over tha front and under the wiper blades, if ya get to it and tha water is deep there is a track around it on your left to upper section which is shorter and with less water only a couple minets drive off tha main road i took tha route on tha way back there was lots of smaller water crossings road to captain billys was pritty good past there to tha falls and onto tha jardine was fairly choppy with some huge wash outs in tha middle of tha road take it slowly and carefully from tha jardine onwards roads good, ya can just pick up cdma at tha jardine fuel bowsers area if ya need to make a call if no ones there.
