Hi All
I am anticipating a project consisting of a vehicle PC install, whether that be a laptop or of a mini PC design, either of which will require the option of being able to be controlled through the use of a touchscreen.
Ther are other forums which deal with this topic but a lot of those discussions, whilst similar in nature, center on street vehicles and not those venturing off the beaten track a little.
If this is appropriate, would fellow forumites please post some details of types and possible sources of the touchscreens currently being used in the off-road environment?
Thanks in advance ...

I have 2 panasonic tough books one new $6,000 and one s/hand one ex ebay, cheap but quite good. Have a look there as there were some available. Should get one for about a grand. They are hardy and will run off 12 volts, I have had no trouble with
mine.

Happy to help. I've got it marked as one of my "Watched Threads". Handy feature on this site for those topics that particularly interest me.

Hi Noel,
This is the screen that I have been using since March this year. So far I haven't done any off road driving with it yet, but it doesn't bounce around at all in normal driving situations. In a serious off road situation, I may consider closing it.
So far I'm very happy with it's performance, but there are two issues. I doesn't remember it's parked position, which is a little annoying but not too important. Also the drivers that came with it didn't work, but I managed to find better ones online for the VM170 Monitor. This is the same monitor, that is sold and is very popular in the US.
