For any one intending to venture onto the Canning Stock Route- take note it is OFFICIALLY closed from Well 51 north to the Tanami Road (ie around the Lake Gregory area)- for (at least) the next two weeks!!

Rain ? I havent seen any on the Halls Creek Radar. Must be very recent, or the areas being flooded by water from somewhere else ?

There is a piece in Junes Overlander 4WD mag about the CSR. Something to do with native title.

I read on another site that it is unlikely that permits will be required to travel the CSR itself, or the other main intersecting roads.

There is a strong possibility that permits will be needed to travel off the main tracks. Nothing confirmed at this stage.

I would consider the other site to be reputable.

The interesting thing will be whether areas that have not been flagged as being culturally significant will also be affected. e.g Well 33 community, Kidson Track, etc etc.

Yes but that is the most erroneous post you can find.

Closed by Whom? Seeing as you have all the relevant information why don't you state it?

The CSR is open for all other traffic up until Well 51 from the south as far as I am aware.

Well 51 is the very last well on the stock route. It is inundated with water and around Lake Greogory.

I have information that there is a bloke bogged at Well 51 in a Landy Defender. He has been bogged for about a week now unless he has managed to extricate the stricken vehicle in the meantime.

They are out now Willem, have you been listing into skeds?

The CEO of Mindibungu Community at Billiluna advises that the CSR is Closed at Lake Gregory due to flooding for next two weeks.

Now your up to Speed.

Hi Rox

Thanks. No have not been listening to skeds but have info from another source.

So, as I have said, the CSR is open, but closed for entry and exit at Lake Gregory and Well 51.

There are two other exit points on the CSR if coming from the south.

Cheers
