point place downloads

Hi folks,
I am obviously doing something wrong, i downloaded some way points from the point place files but i can not open them i keep getting a message telling me that windows needs to know what program created it. If the computer does not know then i certainly dont.
PLEASE HELP!

Hi Martin, The point files (plot files) need to be opened by a GPS software program like OziExplorer or similar. You should be able to view the map with windows as it is a gif extension - if you download it. Hope this helps.

Waypoint files are .wpt extension and are originally designed for use in OziExplorer however you can open then in notepad. When you are asked what program to use specify Notepad. You can view the results & print them from this.
If you want to load them to your GPS etc I suggest you use OziExplorer you can download a free trial (has limitted capabilites) from www.oziexplorer.com - if you wish to purchase a full copy it is in the
ExplorOz shop at OziExplorer CD.
