Hi all, We have a custom camper trailer which I built myself but now am having trouble insuring it. The insurers I've contacted won't because it's custom built and others won't insure it for the market value I am suggesting without even looking at it. IMO I have spent $10 000 - $12 000 and value it at $16 000 - $20 000. Also because my better half is disabled, we also take an electric wheelchair and an shop rider with us, yet cant find an insurer while on the road and out the house.(no offroad sadly but thats life!)
Any Ideas?

Have you tried a broker and let them do the leg work for you?

Alternatively look at the Caravan & Motorhome Associations group insurer (I assume they have an affiliation with someone. It may mean joining the association but that can have it's advantages too.

No guarantees but a couple of options.

I had a lot of trouble insuring my heavly accessorised 80 series L/C and home made CT with main stream insurers, after my 80 was stolen and my insurance company "AA**" tried to screw me, I have found an insurance company that is willing to listen and work with you
If you have reciepts for CT ect, I have found them to be very receptive
Give "Affinity Risk Partners" a call on 1300655850
Hope you are as successfull as I was
Good Luck
Barry

I have my 4wd car insured with RACQ because they cover my custom built trailer (with annex) for bugger all extra. It is only insured for $10,000 BUT you add the contents, generator etc as SPECIFIED Accessories to make up the difference. All up Frontera (2002) and trailer is around $650
