Taken me 6 months to buy a new Nissan navara....... This has been the most nightmare..ish purchase of my life......... When I picked it up the wiring loom is not even there for the towbar...... Got the car home and after closer inspection the bullbar hits the bonet. The tray was not as I asked for and when I spoke with nissan they have said I must talk to the tray company myself......
I should have got another Hilux....... My last one took me 2 weeks to get.
Has anybody else had dramas with nissan?

Hi extfilm,

You cant really blame Nissan, it is the dealer who is selling their vehicles. And this is where all the problems start, They just want to move as many vehicles out the gate as fast as they can.

Take it back, hand them the keys and contract. Tell them the contract is null and void as the pre delivery inspection was not done properly.Obviously they will back peddle and say we will fix it. This is when you say ok but I want to talk to the Head Nissan guy in Australia and get confirmation it will be done right the first time.

Have they told you about the rear bearing/axle recall ?

This should also of been checked BEFORE you took delivery.

Dont get angry or aggressive with them just demand the best service now.

Good luck and dont back down.

Thanks but I got the D22, it looks better...... I have already half written a letter to nissan as 1 nissan dealership told me they would ring me with a quote and never got back to me. Another told me to leave the dealership and finally this one took 5 weeks to get me a quote and when I signed the paperwork they told me I would have it in 7 to 10 days........... today, 3 weeks later I have picked it up.
Lucky for Nissan my second job is as a journo......

Must be a dealer problem. i got a new D40 ST-X (2.5 TD 6 sp Man) in December and apart from having to wait 6 weeks for bull bar which Nissan finaly gave in on and agreed to pay for ARB to supply and fit the rest was perfect. Now done 21,000 k's without a problem and Nissan service has been perfect. Towbar wiring, including Prodigy brake contoller was fine, UHF, and car phone fitting was without problems. Bin liner needed a couple of extra screws to secure it properly but that was done first service. Don't panic - if you get the initial probs sorted 9which I am sure you will ) and it is the same model as mine - you will be rapped with it. It is a superb vehicle and at the risk of upsetting all those Toyo owners it sh---ts all over the Hilux

oops - should have read properly before I replied - yours is the D22. Same comments in general apply though. Don't knock Nissan for dealer fitted faults. get the dealer to fix them with the threat of going direct to Nissan

It Friday so I bored, so I'll bite. D40 sh..s on hilux, that word sums up the D40. How many recalls has the nissan had now? Problems dash rattles, blown turbos, rear diffs. I'm spewing I didn't get on.

Go to some of the other main 4wd forums and get it from guys that have these things. The Toyota has sold thousands more units and been out longer, with no recalls and only the odd problem.

Geez I must be lucky - as one of the guys that have these things from new and never been subject to a recall, never had a dash rattle, as far as i can tell the turbo hasn't blown yet, and the rear diff seems to be working Ok and as i said earlier not had a problem with it in 22,000 k's from new. Perhaps its a Toyota with a Nissan badge on it!!
Just love these jealous Tojo owners that have to rely on rumours and fantasy to bag others when there really is no need. Both makes produce great vehicles - each to his own as long as you are happy with what you have got!

My ST-X 2.5ltr 6 speed, has been on order for six weeks and as agreed with my dealer, it should be ready to pick up in mid July. Fingers crossed that I have no drama's! My dealer has a good local reputation, so at this stage Im not chewing my fingernails off.

They gave me a quote yesterday for the fitment of the "genuine" Nissan canopy....$2,990(incl GST)...no thanks!

bleep that is disgusting.! It's not a Nissan problem, dealership issue. Could have also happened with the Hilux but you would have been so bloody rapped with the new LUX you probably wouldn't have noticed..!

Tell em your bleep ..!
