The only significant panel damage I have was when I slipped off a high line with no sill protectors. I've also copped:
A couple of small dents from running over loose branches that flicked up. A couple of scratches from overhanging foliage. A bend in a the rear bumper where I backed into a rock trying to reverse out of a boghole. Some dents in the tank from before the body lift when I just had to drag over everything to get out.....
There's damage to show I use it and use it hard but not that I abuse it like I stole it. I don't need to rev it up and bounce on through any more - not since I raised it up 5 inches.........
Most of my 4wd work is heavily washed out, overgrown and narrow Fire Trails. Strangely sudden 2 foot drops when the ground is slippery and you've only got one possible route are just part of the experience - and if you took your 4wd over the same trails you'd have scratches too - the Patrols and Crushers (and Hummer) who come with us do.
Maybe you havent scratched yours because you're even too scared to take it to your local shopping centre in case someone opens a door into it??????
I'm bagging someone it's because they posted the picture of their "experience" - stuff like that's part of the fun. I'm sure the Explorer is a fine car obviously the owner likes it or he wouldn't be proud enough to show a photo of it.
Just don't think that because someone else doesn't have the same brand their car's no good. Calling a Suzuki a Tonka truck is a good laugh and I'll happily wear that - I even have a mate who painted his Tonka Yellow and got some Tonka stickers made up.
Saying they can't do real world 4wd'ing might make you feel better but it isn't backed up the reality the rest of us live in. Look at Tough Truck for proof of that.......
