My 03/03 Navara's 100k service is coming up soon. The manual indicates that the timing belt should be changed at 100k. However, I've been told that it has a timing chain and not a belt and therefore it doesn't need changing.

Can anyone shed some light on which the ZD has: Belt or Chain?

thanks
Russell

It is indeed a chain. I suspect the service is a check of chain condition and tensioner. I will check my documents and let you know.

My service shedue published by Nissan says nothing of a timing chain service at 100K.

The only unusual service item at 100,000K is valve clearances.

I Think somebody said once that the Nissan service Manuel that you get with the car is universal for all Nissan cars so it will list chit that densest apply to your car sometimes.

Yep, my schedule has both petrol and diesel. Both mention changing the timing chain at 100k.

Interesting.

My manual says to change the timing belt for the "camshaft and injection pump" on the diesel engine. Don't know if this is the same as the main timing belt/chain people are talking about or not.

Cheers
Matt.
