Was foggy all the way into work this morning, and it was so cold the moisture on the UHF and phone aerials froze. Sent the aerials off into a wild swinging action, at the same time flinging pieces on ice onto the windscreen.
Another 4by passed me and he had an aerial above his roofline and the swaying on his aerial was something to behold.

Same thing happened to me this morning between Wnagaratta and Albury on the Hume. Ice started to build up on the UHF arial, then it started to swing aroing like a mad dogs tail , and next thing I knew it had snapped off!
Suppose it serves me right for buying a fibre glass arial! - Ah
well replaced it with a decent ss one from GME - hope that copes better with our current weather
