Prado steering noise

My 95 series Prado is making a strange noise when the steering is on full lock, in either direction. It's not the tyres rubbing - the noise still occurs when I turn the wheel while the car is stationary, but only in the last couple of degrees. It seems to be coming from under the bonnet. I assume it is to do with the power steering.

Any suggestions?

Check the belt that runs the pump, make sure it's not loose!

Just back off on the steering a couple of degrees, Des.

It has got something to do with the power steering, and the noise you've mentioned has occurred in each of the four Prados I've owned.
