Hi all,
I have one of the infamous zd30 patrols (auto), over 120 000k and generally going
well. However I have noticed in the last week that the revs are creeping up from the usual 750 at idle to around 10000 - 12000. This happens when I put it in park.
Its ok when I first start up, just happens later after I have been driving for a while. I have checked the fault codes, but are all clear.
Any suggestions what might cause this?
Thanks
PJ.

Similar thing happened to me recently.
Was simply a loose conection on the warm-up switch. Pushed the plug onto the switch tighter, and never happened again.
Hope your's is so simple.

Had a similar problem with my GU. The dealer simply hooked up some
test device for a few seconds and it was then back too normal. No Charge!

"10000 - 12000" fair dinkum, Michael Schumacher would be proud of that!!
Other suggestion, does the Patrol increase rev's when the air conditioning is switched on? If so is it possible the vehicle thinks the AC is switched on?
Geoff.

Had a patrol doing the same thing the boost sensor was faulty causing the fast idle.

Dirty,
I'd happily sell you
mine but can't guarantee that rev capability. I can guarantee it has a new cyl head though so if you want to give the revs a try it might last a little longer than one without the new cyl head. Just let me make sure the funds have cleared into my account before you hit the skinny pedal.

OK so I was a "bit" generous with the 0's. Thanks for the advise though.

Hi all,
You might be interested to know that problem seems to have settled itself. I'm thinking it might have happened when I checked the fault codes, (only 0505), then cleared the codes. Has run fine ever since. Perhaps that is what ealer did when he hooked up yours.
