Hi all
Has anyone had any dealings with Budget direct insurance . I am getting quotes to cover a 1990 Nissan GQ rb30 3 ltr petrol. Only mods are Bull bar , spotties , exhaust. Agreed value $11000.00 and their quote has come back 3 - 4 hundred dollars cheaper. Should i be wary.
PS : I have just moved from
Wollongong NSW to the
Gold Coast so any other companies to look into would be much apreciated
Thanks
Steve-h

Allot of people here use them, try doing a search in the
forum for them and you will find tons of information. I don't use them I go through a broker

I use budget direct and found them to be very cheap which is good. Haven't had to excercise them and hopefully won't had to so don't have any claim history though I did find them quite straight forward and helpful when aquiring the insurance. Interested to see if any others have had any issues.

Steve, I'm on the coast also and use AAMI. So far (6 years) so good. 2 claims, 1 for someone else swiping me (they chased the rego I had) no worries, one for major hail damage where repairs were done quickly and without hassles. So far I'm a happy customer.

he means it's not worth that much so if you have an agreed value for 11k then if it gets written off they that's a tidy sum in ones little pocket!

we had our rb30 insusred with budget for a couple of years then the jack.
there prices skyrocketed last year so now with cgu.
11000 is plenty for rb30 i think market value is about 4000.
just double
check that with them as sometimes the person you talk to are idiots and probly think its a gu 3 litre.
also when we were with them they wouldnt agree to a value because of the age over 10 year old or something.
cheers.

Hi Steve, Insured with them for 2 years, very cheap insurance, often hundreds of dollars cheaper than the nearest rivals. No claims made yet. Beware though they dont allow to many modifications, lifts etc, as they claim they only insure low risk machines, ensure the patrol complies with the insurance policy. I shifted from
Sydney CBD to
Brisbane CBD area, premium dropped by $400........Both times insured with budget direct...
Cheers Dornbus...

Wouldn't touchem again. They debited my account straight away for a rating one awaiting for proof by a certain date. Would debit for a rating 6 if no proof by a certain date, fair enough. I gave them them the proof only to find they had already debited my account a few days prior to the due date. Wanted an instant credit and couldn't do. I said I can't now pay my credit card off completely (as it was due) as I dont have the extra funds so are you going to pay my interest for the month or do I take you to small claims? I got my credit a few days later. Also enquired about getting my partner added and they said extra $30-40 and debited the amount instantly. They were supposed to call me to let me know that she has been approved to drive my vehicle. They never rang. I called a few days later to make sure all is
well and they said she'd be declined and then the battle to get money back again.
So to sum up they are very quick to debit your account as they only accepted credit cards and have your number so they can debit away. I cancelled the policy after they declined my partner to be added to the policy but did get a refund unlike Steve above.

Did they debit your card for more than the quoted price because that is scary and worries me

they debited the initial amount for if I was a rating one then if you don't supply supporting evidence within 2 weeks then they debit the balance as if you were a rating 6. I supplied the rating 1 evidence before the due date and they still debited the rating 6 balance, something like an extra $1200 bucks.....can't remember now.

I now think it is better to go with a reputable company . This is the first 4Wd i have had for a few years I dont want to risk the dollars or the hassles if anything should happen. Also I have been in buisness for a lot of years now and to debit someones account for more than agreed is highly illeagal ... or am i just getting old
