Hi Miss N

I just checked the Camps Aussie Wide3 book and Mary Pool (with toilets) is 108 klms west of Hall's Creek, some distance from Whim Creek though?
Mary Pool has the authors tick of aproval.
You maybe thinking of Miaree Pool near Karratha and Maitland R which is just west of Whim Creek?
Hope someone can help you if that is not it?

Muddies Doe and Miss'n Nissan are correct, it is Mary Pool. And it is close to Halls Creek.
A lovely spot.

But it does have some burrs and prickles, well it did last year.

Hi

The second one I mentioned, Miaree Pool - Maitland R/Karratha near Whim Creek also have toilets and a tick of approval from the authors.

There are two publications for free camps in WA, one for the north and the other for the south.
Try your local book shop, or in our state it was available from the RAA (SA).

Hi Miss'n Nissan.
Must agree with the others, Mary Pool is a very pleasent stop on your travels. We stayed last year just for one night and there were a quite a few others there but it was really peaceful.
Happy travels.

We stayed at Mary Pool last year ...while being a nice spot and reasonably peacefull given the amount of people that were there...the toilets ! whew.... talk about on the nose...I would not let my wife go near them...set up the popup tent and porta potti for her...chers

Mary River(pool) campsite out of Halls Creek used to be a lovely spot about 10 years ago when you could camp on both sides of the river with no pit toilets and hardly anyone around. Now I wouldn't go near the place in the busy season as apart from the smell near the toilets you are camping on top of each other--not for me.
